James Ferguson House : ウィキペディア英語版 | James Ferguson House
The James Ferguson House at 442 King St., Charleston, South Carolina, is an antebellum house dating to at least 1840 and now used as a restaurant. The building was constructed for a planter from Berkeley County, South Carolina named James Ferguson. Subsequently, it was owned by the Amme family, well-known locally for their bakery, and renovated by them with a Victorian storefront which gave the appearance of a three-story building. By 1976, the house was in poor condition, and the Charleston Board of Architectural Review approved demolition of the house subject to a 180-day delay; preservationists had opposed the loss of the building as an especially early building for upper King Street. Before the house was razed, it was sold to two men who intended to restore the building and use it as a restaurant. The building was not actually restored until more than twenty years later when it was acquired by a neighboring property owner and restored as the location of Fish, a Charleston restaurant. The work returned the appearance of its front façade to the 1840s era. ==References==
